Supreme Court Chief Justice Nominee Faces Tough Questions From Senators

Hawaii Supreme Court Justice, Vladimir Devens, faced tough questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee about his past work for a political action committee, Be Change Now, which he previously held a top position in. Deven's work for the super PAC that helped put Gov. Josh Green in office has been scrutinized by the Senate, with Judiciary Chair Karl Rhoads stating that it was vital to judge Deven’s ability to lead the state judiciary. DeVENs was also questioned about his attendance at a retirement party of Darren Cachola, an officer with the Honolulu Police Department accused of assaulting women and their girlfriend, and attending a party featuring a photo from the party featuring Cacholas.
