California Governor Gavin Newsom has been accused of deflecting blame away from the person in charge, rather than himself, since taking office in 2019. Since taking office, Newsom's focus has been on avoiding blame for everything from wildfires to high-speed rail projects, budget issues, housing shortages, budget cuts, and high-profile rail boondoggles. He has also blamed President Trump for everything, including the recent Iran conflict, unemployment, crime, and state budget woes. His focus on homelessness and budget issues has also been on the rise, blaming local governments for not spending the money right and not building housing aggressively enough.
