Hill: John Spytek’s 1st-year lessons should make for better Raiders draft

Raiders GM John Spytek admitted to making mistakes in his first draft in his tenure as a scout, but plans to correct them with the help of several trusted confidantes. Despite his high-profile position, Spytek is still with the team and has helped to position the Raiders in position to be improved, at least on paper. The early results of the previous year's draft were inconclusive, with several players drafted who could have long-term roles with the Raiders. Assistant general manager Brian Stark, who was hired just days after last year's drafts, has been brought in to help with the improvement. Spytek believes he is prepared for the upcoming draft, starting with likely No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza and continuing with their nine selections this week.
