Faith leaders call for immigration reform in Good Friday gathering at Portland ICE facility

Dozens of faith leaders and church members gathered outside Portland's ICE facility on Good Friday to call for immigration reform. The event was led by Rev. Catherine Alder of Clackamas United Church of Christ, who distributed a list of policy changes they want state and federal leaders to adopt. The demands include protection of free speech and the right to protest, and on the local level, they want leaders to protect Oregon's Sanctuary State Laws and prevent construction of new federal detention facilities within the state. The group also included demands that the government should not allow unannounced inspections of detention families by authorized state or local government officials and citizens to assess conditions and ensure well-being.
