Patreon CEO Jack Conte has called for AI companies to pay creators for their services, stating that their fair use argument is "bogus" and that they do multi-million dollar deals with rights holders and publishers like Disney and Condé Nast and Vox and Warner Music. Conte argued that AI companies should not be able to use creators' content to train their models without compensation. He also suggested that some of these payouts could be used for the creator community of Patreon's own community. Despite these challenges, Conte believes that AI will continue to thrive.
