Louisiana lawmakers are aiming to curb the use of AI-generated child sex abuse material in their legislative session, following a recent case involving a middle schooler who allegedly created multiple fake nude images of his own classmates. Rep. Bryan Fontenot (R-Thibodaux) is pushing for a bill that would increase the penalty for violators who share or sell AI-created nude images in Louisiana to five years. Sen. Rick Edmonds and Sen. Heather Cloud have also introduced their own AI bills, which would make it illegal for someone to use a photo of a real child in AI software to create nude images. The bills aim to make it easier to charge and prosecute offenders who use AI to harm children.
