The Bureau Valley Storm softball team, which won a regional championship in 2024, fell in the finals last year. Coach Dave Shepard is working to get the Storm back on top this spring with seven seniors returning for the first time. Senior catcher Emily Wright, Kadyn Haage and junior Mallory Maubach are key returning players for the team, with Wright looking forward to catching more. Maabach will assume the No. 1 position after Carly Reglin's graduation. Other senior leaders include center fielder Abby Jamison and first baseman Kloey Trujillo, and Sophomores Ali Carrington, Danicka Benavidez and Remie Marshall. The team will drop to 1A for the postseason after playing in Class 2A since 2008.
