Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, once argued that long-term planning is a poor strategy for a fast-moving technology company and that technology changes too quickly. He instead focused on projects that could be completed a year or two, three, down the road, and instead of focusing on a rigid 10-year vision. Despite this, Jobs consistently called major trends early, including portable tablet-like computers, a widely connected digital world and the AI age.
