The Toronto Maple Leafs' young star winger, Matthew Knies, has been linked with a potential trade move away from the team. Despite the team's poor season, there were numerous teams reportedly interested in acquiring Knies. Knies' name was mentioned during the NHL trade deadline and he has scored 18 goals and 39 assists this season. The Montréal Canadiens were the most surprising name to be linked with the player. Former Toronto Maple Leaf GM, Kyle Dubas, is the last team and current Pittsburgh Penguins GM, who may be interested in re-acquiring Knies due to Dubas' success in securing picks and prospects for the Penguins. Chicago's Blackhawks also have a strong need for more players to improve their defense around Connor Bedard. Seattle's lack of star players and a lack of power players could help them in the upcoming season. However, the team may not be a playoff team this year, but may be looking to add more power players.
