Project Hail Mary has a massive opening weekend at the box office

The film, Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling as a stranded scientist named Ryland Grace, debuted in a record-breaking opening weekend, earning $140.9 million globally and $80.5 million from the domestic audience. The film is based on The Martian author Andy Weir's novel of the same name and follows Grace on a mission to save Earth from an alien microbe attacking it. Despite a strong Rotten Tomatoes rating, the film has been praised for its heart-warming portrayal of humanity.
