Senator Chuck Schumer has called on FIFA (FIFA) to cover the cost of transporting fans to the World Cup at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. This comes after NJ Transit revealed that round trip train tickets for this summer's tournament will cost $150, nearly 12 times the regular $12.90 fare for a 15-minute, 9-mile journey from Manhattan to the stadium. Schumer accused FIFA of making 11 billion dollars and charging New Jersey transit with a $48 million tab for transporting fans. FIFA responded by saying it is unprecedented for FIFA to be asked to cover these costs. There will be no parking in the Meadowlands during the matches so fans have few options.
