Dash Crofts, half of the duo Seals and Crofts who defined the sound of "soft rock" in the 1970s, has died at 85 from complications following heart surgery. The news was first announced on social media by the duo's producer, Louie Shelton. Despite not having reached No. 1 on the Hot 100, their biggest hits included "Summer Breeze" and "Diamond Girl" in 1973. The duo had a run of hits that lasted for only six years. They broke up in 1980 and had several brief reunions in the early '90s and early 2000s.
