In honor of Women's History Month, Seattle has been influenced by women who have impacted the city over the decades. From its earliest days, these women have been influential and influential. They include notable playwrights and authors, politicians, chefs, and restaurateurs. In particular, Pearl Kallappa Warren, a registered member of the Makah Nation, was born in 1911 and raised with strong Indigenous and Makah values in Seattle. She later led the American Indian Women’s Service League (AIWSL) and served as its leader until 1969. Imogen Cunningham, born in 1883 in Portland, Oregon, became one of the first professional female photographers in 1910. She influenced the photography industry in Seattle, the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. Bertha Knight Landes was named the first female mayor of a major U.S. city in 1926. She also wrote for national publications encouraging women to become involved in politics.
