President Donald Trump has proposed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will be responsible for airport security at San Diego International Airport and other U.S. airports if Congress does not immediately reach an agreement to fund the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) or implement any reforms. The proposal comes amid a partial government shutdown that has left roughly 50,000 TSA employees working without pay and has led to increased absenteeism and staffing shortages at airports across the country.
