Volvo's Plan to Make Software, Not Bigger Batteries, the Secret to Longer EV Range

Volvo Cars has partnered with London-based Breathe Battery Technologies to develop software that can enhance battery performance without sacrificing power or performance of vehicle accessories. The company's first EV, the Volvo EX60, aims to reach 400 miles on a charge and much quicker DC fast charging times. The software is designed to reduce the need for large batteries and create more efficient battery life in different climates. Volvo's CEO, Akhil Krishnan, stated that a larger battery isn't the solution, but a more efficient overall system. The partnership was part of Volvo's strategy to make the EX60 more practical and more efficient.
