The goal is to have at least 5,000 signatures. The council recently voted to approve a tax incentive plan tied to the proposed Nebius data center, but voted 5-2 in favor of the plan. The petition was not certified by the city clerk, Suzanne Holland. To sign the petition and collect signatures, you must be a registered voter in the city of Independence.
