The extensive work involved replacing key systems in the home and a year of engineering. Barrymore also transformed the property into a sanctuary for her family, believing it would provide an escape from the city where she shoots her talk show. Despite the extensive renovation, Barrymore chose to sell the property less than a year after it was completed due to her busy schedule.
