Woman victimized by scam caller claiming to represent AT&T: Solon police blotter

Solon woman, 53, received a call from someone claiming to represent AT&T/ Direct TV telling her that she was about to lose her promotional pricing. She was offered a new promotional rate of $130 for three months of service, a significant savings. However, she was informed that there was a problem with the card numbers and required additional gift cards. The scammer then informed her that another $500 worth of gift cards was also a problem. She returned to the same store and purchased another gift card, but this transaction failed due to a fraud protection feature. The woman is at a loss of $1,000. Other incidents reported in the police blotter include arrests for drunk drivers, firearms possession, and driving without activated headlights.
