A snowy white owl has become a popular attraction in Chesterton, Indiana, after visiting Coffee Creek Preserve. Observers gathered in parking lots of the Culver’s and Popeyes restaurants to watch the bird, which has been named "Olive Oyl" by some. The bird was seen flying around the field several times a day and often sitting on top of parking lot streetlights. Nicole Harmon, director of wildlife rehabilitation and education for Humane Indiana Wildlife, and the Dunes-Calumet Audubon Society, have been monitoring the owl's movements. Kim Ehn, president of the Audubo Society, has warned against photographing the bird due to its large size and its potential for encroachment on humans.
