Scientists discover health impacts of quitting drinking bottled water

Scientists have found that the safest option for reducing microplastic intake is to switch from bottled water to filtered tap water, a reduction of more than 90%. The study was published in Genomic Press and recommended cutting out the biggest dietary sources of these particles. The biggest source of microplastics is bottled water, which breaks off from the bottle when it flexes or heats up. Researchers also identified other significant dietary sources such as alcohol and seafood. Reducing the amount of plastic we use and finding less harmful alternatives is the only way to limit microplastastic exposure for future generations.
