General Motors Just Put a $500 Million Price Tag on Trump’s Tariffs—and It's Ready for a Refund

General Motors anticipates receiving roughly $500 million in tariff refunds following a Supreme Court ruling that overturned a set of Trump-era import levies. The large payout is enough to boost the company's full-year profit forecast. The court's decision means that more than 330,000 importers will be able to apply for refunds. However, the timing of the refund remains uncertain, leading to a logistical bottleneck as claims move through the system. The Tax Foundation estimates that the tariffs cost the typical American household about $700.
