Simeon Boykins, a man who was falsely arrested for a crime he didn't commit, has filed a lawsuit against the Opa-locka Police Department. Boykins and his attorney, Stephan Lopez, claim that they were taken into custody in June 2024 for attempted murder and other offenses. They claim that Boykins was pistol-whipped, robbed, and shot a man in the area of Northwest 31st Avenue and 134th Street. Boykin maintains his innocence and has received messages from acquaintances of the police department since his release from jail. This is not the first time Boykins has faced legal trouble; in 2016, he was accused of a hit-and-run arrest.
