Honeywell Aerospace has won a contract from the U.S. Air Force to develop a new propulsion system, expected to be more advanced than current systems. The new engine will take cues from the small-thrust-class SkyShot 1600 engine, which can work as a turbojet or turbofan, and can handle high G-forces to aid in tracking and capturing fast-moving targets. The company plans to use digital modeling for faster design and manufacturing efficiency to reduce development and production costs.
