World Cup host committee names sports superstars as ambassadors for the global event

The FIFA 2026 World Cup has been named by the New York/New Jersey Host Committee as Official World Cup Ambassadors. Two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning, two-time NWSL champion Midge Purce, and Knicks’ star Josh Hart will represent the region in the lead-up to and during the most-watched sporting event in the world. The trio are expected to bring "visibility, energy and leadership" to the event, supporting community-driven initiatives across both states and creating a long-lasting soccer community in both states. According to The Economist's 2024 survey, soccer has become the third-most popular sport in the U.S.
