Republican strategist Doug Heye suggested that Iran could benefit from a funded Voice of America (VOA), which was established in 1942 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Until President Donald Trump's 2025 executive order to cut much of VOA's financing, the news organization was indispensable to providing reliable information globally. This includes fighting Nazi propaganda efforts in World War II and disseminating accurate information beyond the Iron Curtain during the Cold War.
