The New York Blood Center is holding a blood drive at the Massapequa Fire Department in memory of Thomas McCarthy, a public servant who died on April 11. The event will take place from 1:45 p.m. to 7:45pm on April 30 at the fire station. Prior to his death, McCarthy had requested the blood drive, citing that he had required it during a major surgery. The blood center has stated that recent changes to FDA guidance have made more people eligible to donate.
