The pilot of Southwest Airlines' Flight 568 from Las Vegas to Reno was hit in the head by a falling instrument display, causing him to turn the flight over to his first officer for an emergency landing. The incident occurred during the departure from Harry Reid International Airport for Reno Tahoe International Airport on April 8. The first officer landed the aircraft safely, but the captain felt well enough to taxi the plane safely to the gate. The injuries were so severe that the captain had to be removed from the aircraft. The airline was able to find a replacement captain an hour and a half after the flight landed.
