Meta Is Tracking Its Employees' Mouse Movements. They Say It's About AI, Not Performance

A new tool has been installed by Meta to monitor employee mouse movements in order to train its artificial-intelligence models. The new initiative aims to make the AI agents perform work tasks autonomously. The data collected will not be used for performance assessments, but for model training. The tool operates across select work apps and websites to help identify employee workflows and improve on weak points. However, while the new tool is unlikely to replace anyone in the near future, more layoffs are planned at Meta.
