The city of Westlake, Ohio, has scheduled a grand opening for its upgraded Recreation Center Park Athletic Fields and Playground upgrades on May 16. The upgrades include a new state-of-the-art playground designed for children of all ages and abilities, featuring a multi-level climbing tower, twin-tube slides, and shaded seating areas. Two existing ball diamonds are being expanded and upgraded to include artificial turf infields with modern dugouts, and new LED field lighting will allow for extended evening play. The city is funding these upgrades with levy funds approved by Westlake residents in 2017 following a comprehensive master plan study in 2015.
