Democratic Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal has called for reparations for illegal immigrants who have been subjected to the "trauma" inflicted by the Trump administration. She made her remarks during a hearing hosted by her fellow Democrat, "Kidnapped and Disappeared: Trump's Attack on Our Children". Jayapals suggested that a future Democratic administration might pursue criminal charges for those involved in the administration's crackdown on illegal immigration. Democrats have opposed President Donald Trump's efforts to combat illegal immigration, particularly his administration's mobilization of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). They are also demanding new restrictions on immigration enforcement after federal agents were involved in two fatal shootings during clashes with anti-ICE demonstrators.
