South Carolina will hold its 2026 primary election in which voters will decide on who will run for the position of governor. The current Gov. Henry McMaster will reach his term limit by the end of this year. The deadline for South Carolina candidates to file for the election was March 30. Three Democratic candidates were running for governor in the 2020 primary election. Seven Republican candidates were also running. The general election will take place on Nov. 3.
