A female mallard duck, named Violet, has been rearing her baby birds in the courtyard of Prairie Trail School in Gurnee, Illinois for over a decade. Each spring, Violet parades her babies from the school's inner courtyard through the halls to a pond near the facility. The Garnee School District 56 shared a video of Violet walking with this year's ducklings, keeping them close to mom. This is not the first time people have helped a duck family; in April, a deputy from the Delaware County Sheriff's Office was seen guiding a mother and her babies across a roadway as they struggled to walk.
