A rare sighting of a rare female Javan rhinoceros in Ujung Kulon National Park in western Indonesia has given conservationists hope that the critically endangered animal is still growing its herd. The Javan Rhino, which is considered the most threatened by extinction by the World Wildlife Fund, was captured on a trail camera in early March. The sighting is encouraging for rhino conservationists as it confirms the endangered species is still developing its herd in the park. The Indonesia Ministry of Environment and Forestry announced the sighting in an April news release, attributing it to efforts to protect and support the rhinos.
