Faizah Malik, candidate for the Los Angeles City Council District 11, has identified three top issues facing Los Angeles, including housing affordability, availability and homelessness. These include underfunding of infrastructure and basic services for residents, and a lack of transparency in government. Malik advocates for the creation of a single database to track all covenanted affordable housing units in the City, which would provide transparency to the public. He also advocates for a streamlined application portal and community preference policy for neighborhoods facing high displacement pressure. Malik plans to immediately unlock housing production, including the Venice Dell project, and advocate for zoning and land use policies that increase housing opportunities for all income levels. Malik also supports a strategic framework for public safety, including building out unarmed community safety programs like CCRCRCLE (Crisis and Incident Response through Community-led Response through the workforce.
