Health care workers have warned that the time is running out for state lawmakers to save Hennepin Healthcare’s (HCMC), a Minneapolis hospital and Level 1 trauma center, could occur as early as June. The workers from Hennetin Healthcare and the Minnesota Nurses Association warned that without action from the Legislature, HCMC could begin closure plans statewide. The losses are due to federal Medicaid reimbursement cuts, the collapse of Ucare health insurance provider, and the end of the federal government’s pandemic-era public health emergency in 2023.
