Election 2026: Charter amendment regarding Mentor law director on ballot

Mentor voters will decide on a proposed amendment to the city's charter in the May 5 primary election. The amendment would eliminate requirements that the law director be a resident of Lake County and maintain an office for the practice of law in the county. There are currently 35,171 registered voters eligible to vote on the amendment. City Council President Janet Dowling stated that this change is in the best interest of the city.
