Mayor Zohran Mamdani enlisted the help of rapper Cardi B to promote the free 2-K program in New York City. The program will be offered in some neighborhoods starting in the fall and will be trialed in a jingle contest to raise awareness about the program. Cardi, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar, expressed her support for the program and expressed her appreciation for Mamdagnani's age. The pilot program will cover every borough but Staten Island and enrollment will begin in June. The cost per child is expected to exceed $36,000.
