Aspiring Nurse, 16, Saved Grandfather’s Life During Medical Emergency, Broke Down in Tears When She Was Honored by Officials

A 16-year-old Pennsylvania girl, Layla Melodie, who dreams of becoming an ER trauma nurse, performed CPR after her grandfather, Kenneth Leitch, went into cardiac arrest on April 1. The student attended a voting session for the Clinton County Board of Commissioners where she was honored for her quick action that saved Leitch's life. The recognition brought her to tears, but her grandmother was present for support. Officials praised her for her selfless actions.
