His BYU football career was derailed by injuries. Now he’s in Disney’s ‘Moana’

Michael Alisa, a former BYU football player, has been cast as Tautai Vasa in Disney's "Moana" after his career was interrupted multiple times due to injuries. Despite these setbacks, Alisa found acting the adrenaline rush he felt was missing from football. He moved into sales and began exploring acting through commercials. After the COVID-19 pandemic, he took acting more seriously and began taking classes, but nothing major came from them. Alisa auditioned for the live-action “Moana’s” in Hawaii, believing he could make up for effort. His role in the animated “moana” was initially small but he felt it could be bigger than he initially imagined.
