Walgreens to pay $6 million in settlement of overcharging allegations in California

The Walgreens Co. will pay $6 million to resolve civil allegations brought by several California prosecutors, including San Diego County, alleging that the retailer overcharged customers and sold expired over-the-counter medicinal products. An injunction has been placed in place preventing the company from engaging in false or misleading advertising and implementing price accuracy measures. The company will also pay $5.4 million in civil penalties and $600,000 in additional costs.
