HOA fees in San Francisco metro surpass $500

Homeowners association fees in the San Francisco metro area surpassed $500 in 2025, according to new Realtor.com data. The median monthly fee is significantly higher than California's $336 and the nationwide median of $135. The share of homes with HOA dues has also increased from about 40% in 2019 to over 47% in 2025. These fees add to already high costs of homeownership, particularly in expensive markets like San Francisco.
