India weighs rule to maximise output at imported-coal plants, sources say

India is considering using an emergency clause to force coal power plants that run on imported coal to maximise output ahead of the summer season. This comes amid concerns that the U.S.-Israeli ‘war on Iran’ has negatively impacted gas supplies. The country expects peak power demand to exceed 270 gigawatts during the summer. The power ministry did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.
