The Manatee County NAACP, church leaders, and the family of William Tyrone Bell have called for the release of body camera footage and more information following Bell's fatal shooting by Bradenton police in March. The 56-year-old man was shot and killed after refusing multiple commands to drop a gun in his hand. The NAACP is seeking transparency in the case and the names of all officers involved, details of the timeline of events, and an independent review of the investigation. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the officer-involved shooting and will provide its findings to the State Attorney's Office (SAO).
