Southwest Airlines passengers were removed from a flight from Houston to Dallas on March 10 after a taser was discovered on the plane by a crew member. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) was alerted and all passengers were escorted off the plane. Additional screenings were conducted after the discovery, and passengers were allowed to reboard the plane two-and-a-half hours later. The incident occurred amid ongoing issues caused by the partial government shutdown, which has resulted in as many as 50,000 TSA workers working without pay. No charges have been filed.
