Volunteers from the Windermere & Bowness Christmas Parade have decided not to put up the town's Christmas lights this year due to commitments to work and family reasons. The volunteers had previously been involved in the process. They have called for a new team to take over the responsibility. The event, usually held on a Friday, has grown so large that it would be difficult to accommodate.
