The College Sports Commission (CSC) is dealing with a surge in NIL agreements tied to school-affiliated entities, causing longer review times and increased costs. The surge occurred during the January transfer portal window, when thousands of players moved between programs across college football. The CSC's new clearinghouse, NIL Go, was created to review NIL deals under the regulatory framework established through the House settlement. However, the structure of the modern NIL market is forcing more manual scrutiny than expected. The delays have led to concerns about the speed of reviews and the potential impact on recruiting and roster management. Despite the increase in review times, the CSC has expanded from nine employees to 15 since December and plans to add more in the coming months.
