The Phillies defeated the Rockies 10-1 in the Rockies' home opener, marking a significant first-inning victory for the team that was coming off a 119-loss season. The Phillies blitzed Colorado starter Michael Lorenzen for seven runs in the first inning, the most in 34 years of Colorado home openers. Lorenzen was hit by a career-high 12 hits, a record by a single pitcher in a Rockies home opener. The Rockies have now lost eight straight to Philadelphia. Phillies ace Aaron Nola also performed well, lowering his ERA against Colorado to 3.05.
