Voters have approved a measure allowing state Democrats to redraw the congressional maps through 2030, allowing them to gain an additional four seats in the House of Representatives. The vote was hotly contested, with roughly 50.3% of voters voting yes and 49.7% voting no. The last time these maps were drawn was in 2021. Republicans argued that the redistricting would give too much power to Fairfax County voters. The measure was defeated by the majority of voters and was overturned by the state Supreme Court.
