Initial returns on the Anchorage School Board bond and one-time tax levy continue to show voters narrowly rejecting the measures in the April municipal election. Proposition 1, a $79 million bond for capital repairs and improvements at local schools, had 49.9% of voters rejecting the bond, while 48.7% were in favor of it. The tax levy, introduced in January, would be used to fund the Anchorage school district to its maximum maximum allowed by state law. The other capital bond measures, including a $350,000 bond for renovations of Anchorage Police Department facilities, also appeared to have voter approval. The election results are set to be certified by the Anchorage Assembly on April 28. In the race for a Midtown Anchorage Assembly seat, Janice Park took a 22-vote lead over her opponent Dave Donley, who was backed by prominent conservative donors and endorsed by the Alaska Republican Party. Three incumbents, Anna Brawley, George Martinez, George Marten, and Zac Johnson, continue to hold leads in their respective races.
