The Polk County Assessor's website, long a staple for property searches and photos, is set to lose its key search function and photos. The site will transition to a vendor-managed system at an estimated five-year cost of $672,000. The loss of these tools could slow down real estate transactions, increase transparency, and increase reliance on county staff for basic information. The office is also reviewing its content to meet new federal digital accessibility rules under the Americans with Disabilities Act by an April 24 deadline.
